Rudder pedals. To anyone just starting to build I would recommend the rudder pedals as a good place to begin, since all the welding is done on a bench.

The aileron actuating controls from page 15 of the plans.

2003-Sep

The push-pull tube coupled to the elevator horn. I didn't have a single piece of 5/8 tube long enough for the push-pull tube, so I spliced two together. The splice (not shown) comprised a two-inch-long collar of 3/4 x .058 straddling the butted 5/8 tubes, plug-and-scarf welded.

2003-Sep

The front control stick.

The torque tube horn. The notches on the underside were my attempt to make the horn clear the bolts that attach the rod end to the tube. In the end I said "to hell with it" and welded the rod end in place. Now the horn is a few grams lighter than it would have been. Those damned rod end bearings are expensive.

The rod end bearings for the aileron control linkage. They are coupled with threads from a grade 8 cap screw and drilled for safety wire.
