                    WHY DEAD CALVINISTS ARE NOT SAVED
;

In anticipation to your extreme bafflement as to what exactly a 'Dead Calvinist' is;

First; What is a Calvinist ?
A Calvinist is a person who believes in the popular 'system' [1] of theology known as 'Calvinism' which is expressed by the well known acronym, TULIP; alternately referred to as the "5 points of Calvinism" or the "doctrines of grace."  This definition may be expanded to include other points of theology but this is the 'nut-shell' definition.

A 'Dead Calvinist'  is a person who holds to Calvinism but is not saved.  Nor did I invent this term myself. I got it from J.C. Philpot. [2]

Why is a Dead Calvinist not saved?  The main reason is that a Dead Calvinist believes in 2 different gospels.

He believes the Gospel that proclaims God has, from all eternity, chosen some people out of the entire mass of fallen, spiritually dead humanity, all of whom have absolutely no ability of themselves to savingly come to Jesus Christ and believe the gospel...  to become saved.  This choice was based on nothing in the sinner but only on the sovereign will of God in Jesus Christ. [Total depravity and Unconditional election.]  These people are called in Scripture God's elect, or Christ's sheep.  God then sent His Son into the world to rescue His sheep by giving His life as a full and complete payment for all the sins of all the elect and them only, thereby fully satisfying the penal debt to the law of God for their sin.  Such complete satisfaction both secures and guarantees the salvation of all the elect. [Limited Atonement.]
As well it establishes a righteousness for the elect that they all need in order to be acceptable and pleasing in His sight and this righteousness is freely imputed to them and received by faith.  Therefore, in their lifetime, God infallibly sees to it that they come under the sound of the preaching of the gospel and sends the gift of the Holy Spirit, who is the Spirit of Truth, to regenerate them and cause them to believe the truth of the gospel, repent of their sins, and come to Jesus Christ for salvation. [Irresistible grace.]  When they do come to the truth they are in possession of  -eternal-  life, which is, as it says, eternal. It will last forever and never end so that once God saves them they can never 'lose' their salvation.  [Perseverance.]  This of course is an accurate description of the true Gospel found in the Bible and is what most, if not all who call themselves 'Calvinists' believe.

But there is another 'gospel', which is not another, that contradicts the true Gospel as given above.  This is the popular gospel of Evangelical Arminianism which proclaims that God, from all eternity, looked ahead down the corridors of time to see who would and who would not 'accept' His Son, and believe the gospel.  Upon that basis God then 'chose' all those He 'saw' would accept Jesus Christ and be saved.[3]

 As you can see this is quite different and even in opposition to the true Gospel as stated above. God choosing based on His own sovereign good pleasure in Jesus Christ and His choosing based on what a sinner is going to do are two entirely different concepts and are mutually exclusive.  They cannot both be true.

This 'gospel' further teaches that God did not send His Son in order to actually and really save any particular person or persons, including those He 'saw' would believe. Rather He sent His Son to die in order to make salvation 'possible' and that for the entire human race. Christ, they say, has died for everybody including the Reprobate but each person must 'accept' his death on their behalf in order to be saved. The result is that many for whom this 'christ' has died end up in Hell because they did not exercise their 'free will' and get saved. This again is obviously not only very different but the exact opposite to the Biblical teaching that Messiah came for, and died for, a particular number of people called the elect, or His sheep  -and actually saved them all by His death!-  Christ dying for only  -some-  people and His dying for everyone who ever lives...  ~including the Reprobate who end up in Hell!~  are again two mutually exclusive concepts and cannot both be the truth.

This 'gospel' further teaches that anyone can, by an act of his own 'free will', either accept or reject the message of salvation  ~while he is yet unregenerate.~  This of course denies the truth that the natural man has no ability to embrace the truth of the gospel unto salvation in his natural, unregenerate state. He is dead in sin and as such he cannot know the things of God in a saving manner.

One of these is a false gospel folks! One has salvation completely rooted and grounded in, and dependent on nothing else but the Person ~and the work~ of God's Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ. The other has salvation rooted and grounded in, and dependent on, the person ~and the work~  OF THE SINNER!

Clearly these are two separate and distinct gospel messages.  One is from the courts of Heaven and the other from the pit of Hell. One is the means God uses for the salvation of His people while the other is the means Satan uses for the damnation of his followers. But here comes the Dead Calvinist and says....

"O-O-O-O-o-o-.... NO Jay!  You have it all wrong. These people, the Arminians, who hold to and believe in their Arminian false gospel are still saved... because they have "trusted in Christ". In fact.. I myself was saved as an Arminian and did not -come into- the 'doctrines of grace' until much later  >after<  God saved me. When you say that Arminians are not saved you're ungracious, you're uncharitable, you're arrogant, you're judgmental, you're divisive, you're..."

In so saying he is declaring that he firmly believes that the Arminian message, which is diametrically opposed to the truth of the Gospel, and is from Hell, is just as valid a gospel message as the one he [thinks] he believes when he goes about chanting TULIP and the 'doctrines of grace'.

Hear now the words of the Holy Spirit through the inspired pen of the Apostle Paul;
Gal 1:8  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.
9  As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.

Notice in both verses Paul uses the emphatic phrase *any other gospel*. This is instructive as it tells us that such people are... not 'theologically confused' as some would have us think.. but they are under the curse of Almighty God. And even though the Dead Calvinist may not actually preach the false gospel of Evangelical Arminianism, he still regards those who hear, believe and hold to it, as his 'brothers and sisters in Christ.' In so doing he is saying that he believes the Arminian false gospel is just as valid as the true Gospel. Since these are two  *separate and distinctly opposing messages* it is now easy to see that the Dead Calvinist does indeed believe in two gospels and in so doing he is declaring that he is under the indictment of Galatians 1:8,9 and is cursed of God.

Furthermore, in saying that Arminians, who despise and reject the doctrine of Jesus Christ and His blessed Gospel, are saved is to deny the words of God in 2John 9-11 where it is plainly stated that;

2John 9  Whosoever transgresses, and abides not in the doctrine of Christ, does not have God. He that abides in the doctrine of Christ, he has both the Father and the Son.

This is clear that anyone who believes in and holds to a false gospel does not have God. The Dead Calvinist says... "O yes he does!"  By saying that the Arminian is saved the dead Calvinist contradicts the words of the Holy Spirit and calls God a liar!

10  If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:
11  For he that bids him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.

Are you a ...  Calvinist ?
Do you regard the Arminian to be saved ?
If so... then you are still Dead in your sin. Repent.

Notes;
1. I enquoted the word system because many people try to separate a so-called 'system of theology' from the gospel and say that you can believe in any given 'system' of theology that you want to and still be saved, even if that 'system' contradicts the doctrine of Jesus Christ.  One person actually told me, and I quote; "Neither Calvinism nor Arminianism is the gospel."  This is a reflection of the notion that neither theology nor doctrine have any part in the process of a person's actually becoming saved.  The root of such thinking is found in Mysticism, which teaches that a person is saved by having an 'experience' with God and/or Jesus Christ, which is usually emotional.  This 'experience' is separate from any intelligent thinking, understanding and believing of theology or doctrine; although in many instances the person is encouraged to believe that he 'is a sinner' and needs a savior and Jesus Christ is that savior.  All he need do is 'trust Christ' and he is 'saved'.  All theology and doctrine comes  >after<  a person 'gets saved' and is part of the growth process. Since one's 'theology and/or doctrine' have nothing to do with becoming saved one can believe almost anything, even if it contradicts the clear teaching of the Bible, and still be considered a Christian; because he has 'trusted Christ' for salvation. This is the exact carcinoma of Evangelical Arminianism folks and it's dragging countless into the fires of Hell on the wings of a false gospel.

2. "But what do I mean when I say that the heir of heaven has light to see guilt and wrath and condemnation, but not mercy, love and pardon? Do I mean that he merely sees these things as certain revealed truths, as a system of dry doctrines, just as our DEAD CALVINISTS that swarm through the country see everything and anything but their own ignorance'?" The HEIR of HEAVEN Walking in Darkness.  J.C. Philpot

3.Why would God, who is  >Omniscient<  which means He knows everything... have to 'look ahead' to find something out ?  He already knows all things. As you can see here, to say that God must 'look ahead' in order to 'find something out' is a direct attack on God's attribute of Omniscience, which is an attack on God Himself.

Objection; That's certainly a whole bunch of stuff you are asking folks to believe is the gospel. How can you expect anyone to swallow all that in 1 gulp?
