This is an examination of Outside the Camp's false
doctrine of
Sanctification which unavoidably lands them in a False gospel.
Biblical Repentance
Romans 2:4 Or do you despise the riches of His
kindness, and the
forbearance and the long-suffering, not knowing that the kindness of
God leads you to repentance?
The context is very clear that Biblical Repentance
is recognized by the
fact that the person no longer makes a -Practice- of sin. Observe...
Rom 1:32 who knowing the righteous order of God,
that those
-practicing- such things are worthy of death, not only do them, but
also approve those -practicing- them.
Rom 2:1 Therefore, O man, you are without excuse,
everyone who judges, for in that in which you judge the other, you
condemn yourself; for you, those judging, -practice- the
same things.
Rom 2:2 But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth on
those that -practice- such things.
Rom 2:3 And, O man, the one judging those -practicing- such things, and
doing them, do you think that you will escape the judgment of God?
The Greek word for 'practice' in these verses is Prasso. Strong's #4238 It's the very same word used by Paul in Galatians 5:21 where he says that those who Practice; [Prasso] sin will not inherit the KOG. See also 1Cor 6:9-11.
Therefore the context of this verse in Romans
teaches that Biblical
Repentance is marked by a cessation of the -Practice- of sin. True
Biblical Repentance can be recognized by the fact that a person no
longer makes a ~Practice~ of sin. In Romans 6 we read;
1 What then shall we say? Shall we -continue- in sin
that grace may abound?
2 Let it not be! We who died to sin, how shall we still live in it?
By this passage it is seen that to continue in sin is the same thing as to live in sin. And people who make a ~Practice~ of sin are surely Continuing in sin; therfore they are Living in sin. Can a person who is Living in sin be said to be Regenerate?
Therefore, people who say that one can Repent while
he is continuing to make a Practice of sin are in denial of the
Biblical Doctrine of
Repentance. That means they are denying the Gospel because Repentance
is an integral element of the Gospel and the Lord Jesus said...
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all
likewise perish.
Luke13:1-5
In No Way can it be said that the man in Romans 7
ceased from Practicing his sin. Verses 15 & 19 clearly declare the
exact opposite. They state that he was Practicing [Prasso] his sin.
Therefore he was Living in sin. Therefore he was completely void of any
true Biblical Repentance. Therefore he can in No Way be Regenerate.
There-further-fore, anybody who says that that man was
regenerate is in denial of the Christian Gospel. Whatever 'gospel' such
people believe is by definition a False gospel and No one who holds a
False gospel is saved.
According to Marc Carpenter's own doctrine on his Outside the Camp web site, it can easily be seen that he and his associates are in denial of the Christian Gospel because they believe that a person who is Void of Biblical Repentance can be a Christian. They believe that people can -Live in Sin- and be regenerate!
They claim that Romans 7:14ff is describing a regenerate man, yet that passage clearly describes a man who can do nothing but sin. It describes one who -cannot- repent. He cannot do anything good... at all. It describes a man who is Living in Sin because he is making a ~Practice~ of sin. He is Continuing in Sin and is therefore in violation of Romans 6:1,2 as noted above.
I offer here quotes with my analyses from Marc
Carpenter's piece on
Romans 7:14ff wherein he states plainly that... "This must be talking
about a regenerate man."
Quote;
"Do you see what our current passage in Romans 7 is sandwiched in
between? Both BEFORE and AFTER Paul says that he, and thus all
believers, are fleshly, having been sold under sin,"
Analysis;
Mr. Carpenter & his followers believe that Christians are "fleshly"
and sold under sin. See if you can find that anywhere in Romans 6 where
Paul teaches that a Christian is one who has been set Free from his
sin. Then have a look at John 8...
30 As he spake these words, many believed on him.
31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue
in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed;
32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
Truth sets men free according to Messiah. Free from what? Continue in the context...
33 They answered Him, We are Abraham´s seed,
and we have been in slavery to no one, never! How do you say, You will
become free?
34 Jesus answered them, Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone practicing
sin is a slave of sin.
So Messiah taught quite plainly that Christians have
been set Free from sin by way of the Truth.
Yet Mr Carpenter & his followers believe that Christians are still
in
Bondage to sin. They believe a Christian is still "sold under sin". And
by direct implication they also believe that a Christian is in
Captivity
to sin... Romans 7:23. How can it be said of one who is sold under sin
and in Captivity to it, that he is set Free from it? That's pure
nonsense!
Continue quote;
"... he says that believers have died to sin, do not live in sin, no
longer serve sin, are no longer under the dominion of sin, have been
set free from sin, do not walk according to the flesh, are free from
the law of sin, and are not in the flesh."
Analysis;
Does the man in Romans 7 look like he has "died to sin"? Does he look
like he is -Not- living in sin? Does he look like he is -No Longer-
serving sin? Does he look like he is no longer under the dominion of
sin? Does he look like he has been Set Free from his sin? Does he look
like he is walking in the Spirit.. because he is not walking according
to the flesh? Does he look like he has been set Free from the law of
sin, even though he himself testifies that he is still in Captivity to
that law? Does he look like he is Not in the flesh?
Mr Carpenter and his followers would answer an unequivocal Yes to these questions. But anybody can plainly see how ludicrous such a view is. To say that the man in Romans 7 was "walking in the Spirit" is utter blasphemy. The passage describes a man who is making a Continual Practice of sin. He's Living in sin... and MC & company believe this is what it looks like to "walk in the Spirit"!
The next quote shows Mr Carpenter outright denying the Scriptures, which shows he is a false witness/teacher. Here it is;
Quote;
"This is the experience of every believer while he is still living in
this body. We HATE sin, we LOATHE sin, we are DISGUSTED by sin, and
yet, even though sin is repugnant to us, we COMMIT sin." [his caps]
Analysis;
This is a clear contradiction of Scripture. Mr. Carpenter teaches that
Christians COMMIT sin [his caps]. Yet the Apostle John writes;
1John 3;
9 Whosoever is born of God doth -NOT- commit sin; for his seed
remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God; KJV
9 Everyone who has been begotten of God does -NOT- sin, because His seed abides in him, and he is not able to sin, because he has been born of God. LITV [my caps].
Do Mr Carpenter & his followers think that 1John
3:1 - 10 is a
description of the man in Romans 7?
Here then we can plainly see that Mr. Carpenter
outright denies the
Biblical teaching on the doctrine of Sanctification and the
constitutional make up of a Regenerate Christian. This can be expanded
on quite easily and there is more that I will be pointing out from
Mr. Carpenter's articles. Anyone can easily see
that the teaching of Mr Carpenter / OTC etc... is heretical. It's
another gospel that sets forth another Jesus.
