                                                              Truth Proclaimed

Psalm 40;
9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation: lo, I have not refrained my lips, O LORD, thou knowest.

   As this Psalm is a prophecy of Messiah the Psalmist here gives testimony that his great desire is to be just like his God and Savior. There can be no doubt that the mission of Messiah was and is to preach righteousness in the great congregation, which is His Church, the company of all the elect throughout all of history. And He is doing so by means of His servants, whose desire it is to be part of the great purpose and mission of Jesus Christ, which is to declare God's righteousness. Those who make claim to being Christians are making claim to be of the company of the elect of God. The elect are identified by the fact that they have the same desires and purposes as He. And when they have opportunity they will not refrain their lips from speaking righteousness and that is accomplished by the speaking of truth. It is accomplished by the recognizing and refusing to give lip to any and all false doctrines which would destroy both the truth of God and the souls of men. Such practice of giving service to anything that is not of the truth is a wicked abomination before the God of truth and is in direct opposition to the purpose and mission of Messiah.

10 I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

   There are legion in our day who would not only hide God's righteousness but would make every positive effort to avoid it by speaking either half truth or no truth at all. Such is indicative of the great perversion of the truth, the false gospel of Evangelical Arminianism, which is calculated to destroy the souls of men by offering to them a message of hope that is dressed in the robes of the Scriptures. Such a message often looks good as it is garnished with verses from the Bible yet upon close examination it is seen to be laced with poison and is in reality an elixir of death. We see here how such is accomplished, by a wicked practice, which the Psalmist is determined not to engage in; that of concealing God's lovingkindness by the concealing of the truth. Arminians and those who would consider them as believers conceal the truth by the hiding of the truth of the Atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ for His elect and them only. They keep secret the great and wonderful truths of election and predestination, which are of the gospel, and propagate the false teachings of Pelagianism in their doctrine of man's free will. Those who would engage in the wicked practice of concealing the truth of God by condoning and endorsing the deceptive doctrines of the false gospel of Evangelical Arminianism are the enemies of the cross. Such will enter into the fullness of the wrath of a Holy God if they do not consider their ways and repent.

11 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.

   If those who claim to know the truth of the gospel expect to be preserved and kept by the God of Truth there is only one way in which their expectation will come to pass; that is by way of the truth. Therefore those who would compromise and water down the truth of God's gospel by allowing false professors and not separating from them and confronting them with the truth of the gospel have departed from all hope of being kept by God. Whatever expectations such people have of being kept by the God of Truth will be dashed to pieces on the mountain of the wrath of God.
