RIGHTEOUSNESS OR WRATH
Romans 1:18 For
the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and
unrighteousness
of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
25 Who changed the
truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the
creature more than the
Creator,
who is blessed for ever. Amen.
As the gospel is the
revelation
of the righteousness of God and is the one and only place in the entire
universe of God where righteousness is revealed, so too all sinners who
are outside the pale of the gospel come under the wrath of God. God's
wrath
is revealed against *all* ungodliness and unrighteousness of men,
who hold the truth in unrighteousness, as the verse so clearly states.
Therefore any person who is engaged in the activity of holding
the
truth in unrighteousness is under the wrath of God, not his
love. Such people
cannot be said to be saved. This includes all religious people who,
according
to verse 25 change the truth of God into a lie. This is directly
applicable to those who traffic in the religion of the Bible and claim
to be Christians while holding to false doctrine and a false gospel.
Arminians are well within the indicting pressure of this passage as they do indeed hold the truth of God in unrighteousness. God's truth teaches that men are depraved and wicked by nature and in their natural state of depravity they hate God and want nothing to do with Him. In such a condition they are completely unable to do anything pleasing to God which includes believing the gospel savingly. Man in his natural state of unregeneracy is a slave to his sin. Romans 6:17. Arminians deny this with their pelagian false doctrine of free will. They say man does have the ability apart from the powerful working of God in them, to either 'accept' or reject the gospel. By this notion they hold the truth of God in unrighteousness and show that they are still under the wrath of God.
God's truth teaches that God has from all eternity chosen all the elect whom He has ordained to eternal salvation and that choice is based upon absolutely nothing found in the sinner. Romans 9:11-13. Again Arminians deny this truth by telling us that God has 'looked ahead in time' to find out who would 'accept' Him, or who would believe the gospel. Why would God have to 'look ahead in time' to find something out? Is He not omniscient? This notion alone holds the truth of an omniscient God in unrighteousness and teaches a 'god' who has to 'look down the corridors of time' in order to *learn* something. Therefore the Arminian god is stupid, not omniscient. And how does He do this? Does He have a crystal ball in which He can see the future? But that would make God a 'spiritualist' which is one who dabbles in the occult. Such activity is nothing but Satan worship and is abomination to God. But isn't that Satan's ultimate goal, to have the whole creation worship him instead of worshipping the Living God? And wouldn't it be an extra feather in his dunce cap if he could get God Himself to worship him? Isn't that what He tried to do with the Wonderful Savior? Further why would God have to look into the future to see what He already decreed to come to pass? Or maybe their god forgot what he decreed! Such blasphemy is not the God of the Bible but an idol and those who hold this doctrine are idolaters. Moreover what is it that these idolaters say God looks for when He looks ahead in time? Simple; He looks for all those who will 'choose Christ of their own free will' and when He finds them He ordains them to salvation and eternal life. This makes election and the decree of God dependent on the sinner. It makes God subject to the creature rather than the other way around. It destroys any notion of a God who is sovereign over all His works. By this blasphemy God is 'not allowed' to save anyone who refuses to exercize his free will and believe in Jesus. What is all this but a holding of the truth of God in unrighteousness and such people are under the wrath of God. They are lost.
God's truth teaches that the death of Jesus Christ was for His people, his sheep, the elect and them only. Arminians deny this by their false doctrine of universal atonement that says Christ died for everyone. And when they say everyone they mean absolutely everyone in the entire human race who ever has lived or will live. I have had these people tell me that Jesus Christ not only died for Judas Iscariot but that He actually propitiated his sins according to 1John 2:2 and took them all away according to John 1:29. Yet God sent him to Hell anyway. As if this is not enough blasphemy against the Atonement I have had them also tell me that Jesus Christ was dying for people who were already in Hell when He was on the cross. In other words, He was dying to save people who were unsaveable! Such notions are not only against the truth they are of Satan! Can you imagine a god who sends his son to die for people who have already come under the eternal wrath of God from which there is no escape? Can you imagine a god who rains fire on Sodom and Gomorrah and wipes out every man woman and child in those cities in a most fearsome display of the wrath of God against the wicked, and then sends his son to die for those same people? Yet Messiah clearly testified that "this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose *nothing,* but should raise it up again at the last day." John 6:39 Arminians not only clearly, but blatently deny this wonderful truth. In so doing thay are holding the truth in unrighteousness and are still under the wrath of God and are therefore not Christians.
