Cases
The case on the left is a large case
made for bugs like the Original, Lightning, and Champion. It
still has the key, a bit unusual as a great many of the keys have been
lost over time. The case in the middle is rather scarce.
It's smaller and made especially for the Blue Racer.
The wedge cord on the right was used by telegraphers to jumper their
bugs to their hand keys. Because the railroad company's hand key
typically was hard-wired, the operators were not allowed to disconnect
them to connect their bugs so a wedge cord was used to jumper the bug
to the hand key. This particular wedge cord has the Vibroples
Fulton Street address inscribed on the plates.
