Hiking on the Appalachian Trail
I was on a mission to build up some endurance for the big Adventure Trip to
West Virginia later in April, 2001. A hike to a few places in the area
provided adequate training for the trip although infrequent visits probably
didn't help a whole lot.
Chad had suggested the Appalachian Trail in the Boiling Springs area and so
we went. The trails are well marked and also provided the steep terrain I
was looking for. I took an extra 15 pounds of water and weight in a back
pack just to make my workout better. We also found an excellent place to
do some bouldering along the trail.
I would enjoy going back for a longer hike and some climbing as well.
It's a good location for a rappelling and climbing lesson.
