Peiper's Cave
Peiper's Cave is in the Shippensburg area. It provides a sizeable space
for what I would consider beginner caving since there didn't seem to be any challenging passage
to deal with. There are plenty of formations, a few levels to it and lots
of maze-like routes through the cave. The map is quite detailed although following it
may seem a bit silly since there are so many interconnecting tunnels.
Our trip in early April, 2001 was partaken of by only three people, until
Jean, the current resident in the house that overlooks the cave entrance, joined
us in the cave and gave us a bit of a tour. Kevin, his dad (now 70 years
old) and I spent
about 4 hours wandering around checking out what there is to see.
