Here are photos from a cheap throw away camera that I continue to buy, beat up and then return to the drug store as dirty as possible.  This last one was even dropped (well, not really dropped... more like I threw it because the flash quit working) into a puddle.  That puddle was in Allen Ford Cave.

J4 Cave

I've been to J4 Cave in Pleasant Gap, PA more times than any other cave.  Sometimes I take a camera and other times I don't. Here are a mix of pictures from different trips:

I don't know why I posed like this but Kevin Dunleavy did a good job of capturing my best moments.

I don't remember where in the cave this formation is located.   ???

This is apparently in one of the two areas where we rigged a rope for a descent.  As we went a few different ways through the cave than we normally go, one of the packs dropped down a 35 foot hole.  We went down to retrieve it with the rope.  We also discovered that there was another way around that didn't require the rope but the rappelling was fun.
This is Kevin decending the "Highway" step across.  This is the second obstacle of the cave which freaks a lot of people out (the first is the entrance).  This was Kevin's first time going down here and he discovered the rooms and passage which he had only heard of before.  This is a neat part of the cave.
This is Kevin again and I don't know why this time he's shy of the camera.  Actually, it might be my bright light shining at him.  I have to get on of those TAG lights instead of my area lighter.
Here is a good example of ribbons, flowstone and a stalactite.  This picture was taken in an area past the "Dome Room".
More flowstone.  This was also taken in a small room past the "Dome Room".
More ribbons. The next picture is the top of this....
Yes, that's a wooden latter with 3 or 4 rungs.  It's found way back in the cave.  Someone went to a lot of effort to get the materials back there.  I climbed up to it which is a pretty scary endeavor.  It didn't seem to reveal anything above it.  I don't know why it's there.  A future trip of more than two people may give us the ability to explore here a bit more and perhaps find out why someone went to the trouble.
Other expeditions to J4 have produced these photos:
Not great pictures that this disposable camera took but any veteran of this cave will recognize these formations.

Notice the damage to this formation from candles.

Below: That's me climbing up out of the Dome Room without using the rope we rigged.

Almost in the middle of the picture immediately to the left is me rappelling 200 feet from the ridge of the quarry down to the cave entrance which is just about 15 feet above the black spot directly under me.
There's formations scattered throughout this cave and some unexpected things such as an inflatible Godzilla shown above.

Here Chad and I coach my dad to help him get through the passage we call Big Man Little Man.

It's hard to take pictures through your breath.  From left to right: Chad Grim, Leslie Rexroth, Dave Mowery, Kevin Dunleavy and my dad, John Saltzer.
