Tub Cave - West Virginia

Barry Duncan, Alan Horn, Karen and George Bange and I went to this cave on November 10, 2002 during a fall weekend trip to the area.  If I recollect, Karen and George were celebrating their wedding anniversary and invited us to join them for a few days in the cabin they rented.  After some debate and many suggestions as to where to go for the day, we decided to visit the largest underground room in West Virginia.  Amongst a few other very close caves, Tub Cave is fairly unusual as it's entrance leads right into the main room which is huge in diameter.  There is only one short lead off to one side but otherwise that's it.

Since I haven't got the right equipment to photograph large areas yet, I took few pictures but the room does feature a shower, a stream (created by the falling water) and a single mound with some minor flowstone formations on it.  I had the most fun trying to capture flying bats but they were faster than my camera would capture as distant as they were from me on the sloped ceiling/wall.

George and Karen in the entrance.

A few of the bats were moving around, flying to other bats on the wall, almost to tag them and then perch at a different spot on the wall.
