Saxby Chambliss as US Senator from GeorgiaGiven the current status of the US Senate where one party has nearly enough seats to completely disregard any objections to their policies, we urge GA voters to re-elect Saxby Chambliss. His re-election will make it a little easier to maintain a filibuster in the US Senate, which is our only hope to blocking implementation of an extreme Animal Rights agenda. Such an agenda has already been spoken of positively by President-elect Barack Obama and the majority leadership of the House and Senate. Senator Chambliss was not endorsed by animal rights groups, so his being re-elected may be our last chance to hold on to our property rights with respect to our dogs.
| Dog Law Revisions House Bill 2525 | We continue to believe that this legislation was an unnecessary solution to an overblown problem. If and when the PA Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Dog Law Enforcement gets around to fully enforcing the current Dog Law by going after unlicensed commercial kennels, then we could talk about where the loop holes are. Only at that point can the stakeholders honestly debate what to do to close the loop holes. | |
| Cruelty Law Changes HB 2532 and HB 449 | Thankfully, HB 2532 failed to pass in this session. It was allowed to pass the PA House of Representatives and go on to the PA Senate despite a continued problem with the requirements for documentation for cropped ears. We would rather see increased enforcement of current laws and regulations until Ed Rendell is gone from the Governor's Mansion. After what he did to the Dog Law Advisory Board in 2006, no dog fancier in the Commonwealth should have any faith in this Administration. | |
Court Ruling Affecting Local Pet Limit Ordinances |
Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court struck down an ordinance that limited the number of dog or cats that could be maintained in a single residence on March 30, 1994. This means that if your municipality has a pet limit, it is unenforceable. For a copy of the ruling contact Anthony W. DeBernardo Jr., Attorney at Law; DeBernardo, Antoniono, McCabe, & Davis PC; 11 North Main Street; Greensburg, PA 15601. The official citation of the case is Commonwealth vs Creighton, 163 PA Cmwlth 68, 639 A.2d 1296 (1994). | |
